| Outdoor Activities Glacier Walk This relaxing, interpretive walk to the glacier is the perfect opportunity to learn the role of the Franz Josef Glacier in shaping this remarkable landscape. With the emphasis more on geographical information and the glaciers history, you're able to venture beyond the public barriers and right up to the dramatic terminal face of this advancing glacier with your experienced guide. After being fitted out with all your equipment at our company office, a ten minute bus ride takes you to within 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) of the glacier, where you enjoy a short bush walk through regenerating rainforest, regrouping in the glacier valley. You then proceed to the front of the glacier (2.5 kilometers), with your guide calling stops along the way to explain the unique features of the glacier and glacier valley. After being fitted out with all your equipment at our company office, a ten minute bus ride takes you to within 2.5 kilometer (1.5 miles) of the glacier, where you enjoy a short bush walk through regenerating rainforest, regrouping in the glacier valley. You then proceed to the front of the glacier (2.5 kilometer), with your guide calling stops along the way to explain the unique features of the glacier and glacier valley. Here you strap on a set of Ice-Talonz, accessing the terminal face of the glacier for 1.5 - 2 hours traversing spectacular tracks of only moderate difficulty. The terrain can look daunting, but preformed access ways make exploring the lower reaches of the Franz Josef Glacier achievable for most agile people. No experience is necessary, just moderate fitness and agility is required. Outfitted with boots, crampons, ice axe, harness and rope, your guide will lead you onto the glacier snow and ice atop Whistler Mountain. We'll take you further, into the most spectacular ice falls and guarantee the most extensive and rewarding glacier adventure available. Your personalized small group tour takes you through an awe-inspiring landscape carved by glaciers and remnants from the last ice age, as you travel along the Icefields Parkway, one of the world's most scenic highways. On your trip to Canada's glaciers, you'll hear stories of the early explorers who opened up these valleys. You'll enjoy an alpine picnic and visit the Columbia Icefields Centre, with the opportunity to join an exciting all-terrain tour onto Athabasca Glacier (included in the cost of the tour).
